Vedic astrology is the astrology of India, from the culture of the Vedas. The Vedas are the ancient texts of India from thousands of years past. The term Veda itself means knowledge. The knowledge of yoga as well as ayurveda, the health and healing system of India, also have their roots in the Vedas. Vedic astrology is a system of analysis and insight making use of the Hermetic axiom "as above, so below". This system, part science, part intuitive art, allows us to gain an understanding of events and behaviors of ourselves and others in our lives.

Another, more specific term for Vedic astrology is Jyotish. Jyoti means light in Sanskrit, and as such jyotish shines light on our path; a light on the path of our karma. Jyotish can show us our relation to the people and events of our lives, our challenges and our talents. The birth chart called the janma or rasi, is a map of the self-created karma of our lives. The planets, termed grahas, represent subtle energies that guide the unfolding of our karma. Jyotish can reveal when the seeds of this karma, samskaras, will bear their fruit. When we have a light to guide us on our path, we can make choices and take actions that will help bring us the life we desire. 

Jyotish, like yoga, is a revealed knowledge. In ancient times, wise beings called rishis, in their exalted states of consciousness, were able to see the truths of Jyotish and brought that knowledge to humanity, initially by an oral tradition and later in a written format. Contained within this system of knowledge are four areas of life: dharma or purpose, artha or accumulation of resources, kama or desire, and moksha or liberation. Readings in jyotish can assist us in making choices for ourselves that are consistent with our goals and direction in life.

I have been a student and teacher of ashtanga, hatha and tantra yoga for over 30 years and a student and practitioner of jyotish for over 15 years. Intuitive insight and knowledge of these sister arts enable me to bring a unique view to your readings and consultations. My desire is to provide my clients with insight into their dharma, their purpose, their kama, their desire, and ultimately their search for fulfillment, their moksha, as well as practical tools to achieving those ends.

Natal Reading
The natal reading is the starting point. In this consultation, we will employ the birth chart and other tools of interpretation to explore the karma of this life and its unfolding. Jyotish shines a light on our path. We may then gain insight and understanding of our karma, using that insight to make choices for ourselves that may help us lead the life we desire. The typical natal reading is one hour.

Consultation with Emphasis on Yoga Practice
As a longtime teacher and practitioner of yoga, this is my unique offering. In this consultation, the natal chart will be used to explore specifics of yoga practices: asana, pranayama, meditation and ritual that are specific for the individual karma revealed by the light of jyotish. This consultation may lead to deeper understanding of yoga, karma, and consciousness and will provide specific practices to work in harmony with the actions of the grahas (planetary energies guiding the unfolding of our karma). In this way we can benefit as we walk on our spiritual path. 

Mentoring: Advanced Study
Building on the previous consultations, this is an opportunity to continue to deepen your yoga practice with the insight of jyotish. In this individualized offering, you and I will work together to deepen your understanding and experience with progressive techniques and practices of yoga and deepened insight into your personal karma by the use of jyotish. The only constant in life is that life changes. As your practice deepens and the fruits of karma come into being, we will continue to evolve the practices and ritual leading you to experience more of your desire in this life.
